Half Dozen & One is a family-run maker and lifestyle brand shaped by a big family, handmade goods, farm life, practical projects, motorcycles, travel, and the work of building something of our own.
It started with the life we were already living.
Half Dozen & One did not begin with a perfect business plan. It grew from the life already happening around us: a big family, a busy home, animals to feed, food to grow, things to repair, and useful products that needed to be made.
Over time, the sewing projects, farm work, road trips, family routines, and small-business ideas began to feel like parts of the same story. Half Dozen & One became a place to bring those things together and build something that could grow with our family.
Why Half Dozen & One?
The name comes from our family: half a dozen and one. Seven kids, two adults, and a life that rarely stays quiet for long. It reflects the family behind the work and reminds us why we are building this in the first place.

We started Half Dozen & One because we wanted to build something useful around the life we already care about. We wanted a family business that could grow from the farm, the garden, the animals, the kitchen, the workshop, the sewing table, and the real work of raising a big family.
This is not about pretending life is perfect. It is about learning useful skills, making good things, feeding people, raising capable kids, using what we have, and building something that can support our family without taking over our life.

Built around family life
Our family is not separate from the business story. It is the reason for it. The projects, products, farm work, meals, trips, and daily routines all grow out of the life we are building together.
Our property is also home to a small licensed family daycare where gardens, animals, food, and everyday responsibilities become part of the learning experience.
The good life isn’t found. It’s built, grown, fixed, and shared.
